Diamond reaming shells are connected & worked together with bits. Its main functions are maintaining borehole gage, improving rods string stability and protecting lower rods string from excessive wear.

Reaming shells are also classified into different types, lengths and rings according to different series and applications. Reaming shells are classified into categories of wireline core drilling & conventional core drilling of double tubes & single tube.

There are mainly two types: impregnated reaming shell & surface-set reaming shell. And reaming shells can be made into 2, 3 & 4 matrix rings.

There are also front reaming shell & back reaming shell. The front reamer is connected with bit at front end of core barrels, and back reamer is the locking coupling with matrix ring at back end of core barrels.
